of my 13 days of workin
at my mum's office...
out of the 5 chinese i serve,
i inevitably come across 2 or 3
who inexplicably feel that if i do not
speak cantonese, i must be malay.
out of the 5 canto-speaking
customers i serve,
i inevitably come across 2
whom i really quite dislike.
and out of every 5 canto-speaking
customers i serve,
i inevitably come across
1 who is incorrigibly rude and impatient.
am i so very malay-looking?
or is it just their bizarre, deep-seated belief
that all chinese must be canto-speaking,
that leads them to think so?
am i so very biased?
or are the great majority of them uncultured phillistines?
one girl yday whispered to her bf
if i were a malay
bcos i blinked blankly at their enquiries.
one woman today rattled away
in malay to me after
i gave her this apologetic raised-eyebrow look.
heh...
lesson one of working life:
learn canto.
